Congress Rebrands Rahul Gandhi’s Nationwide Journey as ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra

In a strategic move, the Congress party has officially changed the name of Rahul Gandhi’s anticipated Bharat Nyay Yatra to Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Scheduled to kick off on January 14 from Manipur, the march led by Gandhi is set to traverse a remarkable 6,713 kilometers, covering 110 districts across eastern and western India over a span of 66 days, concluding in Mumbai in March.

The Congress has extended invitations to members of the INDIA alliance to join the yatra, which will span the states of Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra.

The yatra aims to encompass 100 Lok Sabha seats and 337 assembly seats, with Uttar Pradesh hosting the longest leg, spanning 20 districts over 11 days.

Explaining the rationale behind the name change, Jairam Ramesh, Congress communications chief, emphasized the thematic connection to justice, stating, “The idea of justice is the idea of the yatra. We had a Bharat Jodo Yatra for 140 days; it proved to be a transformative movement in Indian politics. Everybody was of the unanimous view that we should combine the two, and that is why the yatra is now called Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.”

Unlike the previous Bharat Jodo Yatra, the revamped yatra will not feature a permanent group of Congress workers and leaders marching with Rahul. Additionally, there will be fewer container vans for overnight stays, with participants walking 8-9 km daily, covering approximately 80 km by bus. Rahul is slated to deliver two speeches each day during the yatra.
