Coal Cargo Crisis Averted: PMRDA Fire Brigade’s Swift Response Ensures Safety

Lonavala, Maharashtra: In a commendable display of efficiency and rapid response, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) Fire Brigade averted a potential disaster on the Pune Lonavala highway when a truck carrying coal caught fire. The incident occurred as the fire brigade team was returning from providing security during the President’s visit in Lonavala.

The fire, originating from a wooden plank on the truck, was noticed by the vigilant PMRDA fire brigade personnel. Immediate action was taken, and the blaze was successfully extinguished within 10 minutes, preventing any further escalation. Subsequent investigation revealed that the truck’s cargo was coal, adding a layer of complexity to the firefighting operation.

No casualties were reported in this incident, thanks to the prompt and coordinated efforts of the PMRDA Fire Brigade. The team, led by Fire Officer Vijay Mahajan, showcased their expertise in handling such emergencies. Driver Rahul Shirole and firemen Vikas Gaikwad, Vineet Kharat, Omkar Patil, and Mahendra Deshmukh played vital roles in containing the fire and ensuring the safety of the surrounding area.
