BJP proposes a list of 10 for Legislative Council polls, Pankaja Munde, Raosaheb Danve, Harshavardhan Patil, Chitra Wagh, Yogesh Tilekar named

Pune: Preparations are on for the State Legislative Council elections after the Lok Sabha polls are over. Political circles are abuzz with discussions over the probable candidates from the Maha Yuti. BJP State President Chandrashekhar Bawankule has sent a list of names to the central leadership.

They include Pankaja Munde, Amit Gorkhe, Parinay Phuke, Sudhakar Kohale, Yogesh Tilekar, Nilay Naik, Harshavardhan Patil, Raosaheb Danve, Chitra Wagh and Madhavi Naik. The Legislative Council elections will take place in July.

The ruling and opposition alliances are strategising for the council polls. Uddhav Thackeray expressed the confidence that the MVA will get three out of 11 seats. He indicated that some MLAs from the Maha Yuti will cross-vote. The total number of State Assembly seats is 274. The Maha Yuti has 201, MVA has 67 while six MLAs are independent.
