A novelist and philanthropist, MacKenzie Scott has garnered attention for her extraordinary generosity, having reportedly donated more than Rs 119,522 crore to various causes. Notably, she has pledged to give away at least half of her wealth during her lifetime. Scott’s journey into the world of immense philanthropy began after her divorce from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, where she received a substantial amount in Amazon stock.

As one of Amazon’s first employees, MacKenzie Scott witnessed the company’s ascent to becoming the largest in the world. Following her divorce, Scott received Amazon stock valued at Rs 253,600 crore, while Jeff Bezos retained 75% of the couple’s Amazon stock.

According to Forbes, MacKenzie Scott’s current net worth stands at an impressive Rs 292,995 crore. In 2019, the billionaire philanthropist publicly committed to donating a significant portion of her wealth, and her actions speak volumes. Details on the Yield Giving website indicate that she has contributed over Rs 119,522 crore since 2020 to approximately 1,600 nonprofits.

Born in 1970 in California, MacKenzie Scott Tuttle discovered her passion for writing at a young age. She earned her bachelor’s degree in English from Princeton University, studying under the mentorship of Nobel Laureate in Literature Toni Morrison.

MacKenzie Scott’s journey took a transformative turn when she met Jeff Bezos while working for the hedge fund D. E. Shaw in New York City. The couple got married in 1993 and relocated to Seattle, where they founded Amazon, forever altering the landscape of e-commerce.

As a woman of influence, MacKenzie Scott continues to inspire through her philanthropic endeavors, contributing significantly to various causes worldwide.
