Empowering the Skies: Air India Soars with 15 All-Women Crew Flights on International Women’s Day

In a tribute to International Women’s Day, Air India and its subsidiary, Air India Express, took to the skies with over 15 all-female crew flights on March 8. Campbell Wilson, the airline’s CEO, underlined the significance of celebrating women’s achievements and their pivotal role in fostering gender equality within the aviation industry. Meanwhile, the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore granted approval for the merger of Air India and Vistara, marking a crucial step toward optimization and synergy between the two entities.

The International Women’s Day festivities extended to special offerings for female passengers, including complimentary seat selection and priority boarding services on Air India Express. Female members of the Flying Returns loyalty program were provided an exclusive opportunity to fast-track to the Silver Edge Club, unlocking benefits like additional reward points, complimentary upgrades, and priority check-in services.

Air India, showcasing its commitment to women’s empowerment, proudly revealed that more than 15% of its cockpit crew comprises women, solidifying its position as one of the airlines with the largest number of female pilots.

Reflecting a positive shift in gender representation, the workforce at Air India now consists of 51% women, a noteworthy transformation since the airline’s return to the Tata group.

As part of the week-long celebration, the airline organized various programs, including webinars and live sessions, aimed at inspiring women employees across its network. Air India emphasized the increased participation of women in diverse spheres of its activities, showcasing a positive trend in gender diversity within the organization.
