The idea to employ AI for this purpose originated from the bride’s father, Stephen Wiench. Initially, the attempt to enlist an AI bot faced resistance, with ChatGPT expressing reluctance due to its lack of physical attributes. However, with determination, the couple succeeded in convincing ChatGPT to conduct the ceremony by providing it with relevant information.
The couple crafted their vows and personalized touches, which were then incorporated into ChatGPT’s script for the ceremony. All 30 guests in attendance were informed that AI would officiate the wedding.
To create the illusion of a human officiant, a robot mask was placed over a speaker. ChatGPT addressed the guests, expressing gratitude and warmth, making the occasion both technologically innovative and emotionally touching.
Reece Wiench and Deyton Truitt’s union, which initially began through an online dating app, has now etched their names in history as ChatGPT takes on the title of “wedding officiant” alongside its diverse range of capabilities.
