Discover the Allure of France in 2024: A Year of Cultural Splendor and Sporting Spectacles

France is set to captivate the world in 2024 with a calendar brimming with cultural celebrations and global sporting events. While the Paris Olympics take center stage, the country offers a myriad of other reasons to be on your travel list this year.

Celebrating 150 Years of Impressionism

2024 commemorates the 150th anniversary of the impressionist art movement in France, led by luminaries like Van Gogh, Renoir, Monet, Manet, and Cézanne. Normandy hosts over 150 events from March 22 to September 22, and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris showcases the exhibition “Paris 1874: Inventing Impressionism” from March 26 to July 14, 2024. Notably, Mougins unveils FAMM, Europe’s first museum dedicated to women’s art, featuring works by Joan Mitchell, Tracey Emin, Elaine de Kooning, and Cecily Brown.

Paris Olympics 2024: A Sporting Extravaganza

From July 26 to August 11, Paris transforms into the epicenter of the sporting universe with the Olympic Games 2024. Iconic landmarks become backdrops for events, including the Seine River hosting triathlon, swimming marathon, and para triathlon. Stadiums in cities like Nantes, Lyon, Nice, Bordeaux, and more, as well as Tahiti, will host various competitions. Beyond the Olympics, the rejuvenated city promises a vibrant atmosphere for visitors.

Notre-Dame de Paris: Rising from the Ashes

After the devastating fire in 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris reopens its doors on December 8, 2024, coinciding with the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. A replica spire has been erected, and precious artifacts from the 860-year-old cathedral are on display in museums across the city, offering a chance to witness the resilience and restoration of this iconic monument.

Disneyland Hotel’s Grand Debut

On January 25, 2024, Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris unveils itself as Disney’s first and only five-star hotel. Boasting 487 rooms themed around royalty, the hotel features opulent suites, sparkling chandeliers, and suites inspired by fairy tales like Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Frozen. Guests can savor a fine-dining experience at La Table de Lumière, themed after the Beauty and the Beast ballroom scene.
