YouTube Expands Monetization Opportunities: Lowering Eligibility Requirements for Smaller Creators

    Share

YouTube has made a significant announcement regarding its monetization program, stating that it will be lowering the eligibility requirements. This move aims to provide smaller creators with the opportunity to access video monetization through the YouTube Partner Program (YPP).

The updated requirements for accessing fan funding features and Creator Support are as follows:

    1. Within the last 90 days, the channel must have gained 500 subscribers and uploaded three valid public videos.
    2. Additionally, the channel must have either accumulated 3,000 valid public long-form video watch hours in the past 365 days or garnered 3 million public short views (YouTube Shorts) over the last 90 days.

Initially, this lower tier will be made available in select countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Taiwan, and South Korea. Over the course of the next month, YouTube plans to expand this offering to all YPP qualifying countries later in the year.

Once creators meet the new eligibility requirements, they can apply to join YPP and unlock a range of revenue options. These include Super Thanks, Super Chat, Super Stickers, channel memberships, and the ability to promote products through YouTube Shopping.

This development is particularly exciting for aspiring content creators who now have a greater chance of monetizing their videos. By revising its policies, YouTube is actively promoting the growth of diverse content creators and opening up new possibilities in the digital landscape.

Further information and detailed discussions on these new programs will be provided at the upcoming VidCon conference. This will allow creators to gain deeper insights into the monetization opportunities available to them and stay updated on the latest developments in the YouTube community.
