Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 Launch Date Revealed Along with Official Design

Xiaomi’s much-anticipated third foldable smartphone, the Mix Fold 3, is scheduled to launch in China on August 14. This device will be the successor to its predecessors, Mix Fold 2 and Mi Mix Fold, released in 2020 and 2021, respectively. The company has also unveiled the official design of the Mix Fold 3, which showcases a Leica-branded quad-camera system on its rear and a sleek form factor.

Xiaomi’s CEO and founder, Lei Jun, made the launch date announcement on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo. Accompanying this announcement was a marketing poster with a tagline that translates to “defining a new standard for the second half of folding screens.” The launch event is slated to begin at 7:00 PM local time (4:30 PM IST) and will feature Lei Jun’s annual speech about the company’s business.

First-look renders of the Mix Fold 3 were also shared on Weibo by Xiaomi, revealing the device in both folded and unfolded configurations. These renders exhibit the device in black and cream colors with subtly curved corners.

The Mix Fold 3 presents a notable square-shaped camera module on its rear, larger in comparison to its predecessors. This module accommodates four sensors and an LED flash, showcasing the Leica branding.

Reports from previous sources suggest that the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 will sport an 8.02-inch full-HD+ (1,080 x 2,400 pixels) inner display, complemented by a 6.5-inch cover panel. Both screens are anticipated to support refresh rates of up to 120Hz. Under the hood, the device is likely to be powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, coupled with up to 16GB of LPDDDR5x RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 internal storage.

Battery-wise, the device is expected to house a 4,800mAh battery, with options for either 50W or 67W wired fast charging support.

As the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 takes its place in the market, it will be met with competition from other foldable smartphones like the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5. While the excitement builds around the Mix Fold 3, it remains uncertain whether the device will be available in markets outside of China.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi has introduced its latest Redmi 12 series of smartphones in India, featuring two models: Redmi 12 4G and Redmi 12 5G. While the Redmi 12 4G mirrors its Chinese counterpart, the Redmi 12 5G makes its global debut in India. Both models are currently available for purchase via various online and offline platforms.

The Redmi 12 series boasts a premium glass back design, accompanied by a quad rear camera setup and a spacious FHD+ display. Distinguishing the two models, the Redmi 12 4G incorporates a MediaTek Helio G88 chipset, while the Redmi 12 5G employs a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset.
