Whisper and Vanish: WhatsApp’s New View Once Voice Messages

In a recent update, WhatsApp has expanded its “View Once” feature to include voice messages, allowing users to send disappearing voice notes for increased privacy. This new capability builds on WhatsApp’s existing options for sending and receiving disappearing media.

To send a vanishing voice note, users can now tap on the “one-time” icon next to the voice note option. Similar to the process for sending disappearing photos and videos, enabling this feature ensures that the voice notes will disappear once they have been listened to.

WhatsApp Makes Voice Notes More Private!

This latest enhancement aims to provide users with a more private means of communication, particularly for sensitive information. It’s important to note that disappearing voice messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted, ensuring a secure transmission. However, WhatsApp advises users to be cautious, as there are still potential ways for individuals to intercept voice messages. For instance, Android users can utilize the native screen recording functionality to capture audio messages. Therefore, it’s recommended to share disappearing voice notes with trusted contacts.

Once a View Once voice message is sent, it cannot be replayed. To determine if the recipient has opened the message, the “read receipts” option must be enabled. Additionally, these disappearing voice messages will be available for 14 days unless they remain unopened, after which they will automatically vanish.

While forwarding, saving, starring, or sharing disappearing voice notes and media is not possible, users can report inappropriate content. Unopened disappearing voice messages can be included in regular backups, providing an extra layer of security.

WhatsApp View Once Voice Messages

The global rollout of View Once voice messages on WhatsApp is expected in the coming days. Users can check for the feature by updating their WhatsApp application. If the feature is available, a timer icon will appear next to the voice note option. Share your thoughts on this new WhatsApp feature in the comments, and if you don’t have access yet, rest assured, it should become available shortly.
