WhatsApp’s Latest Update: ‘Search by Date’ Feature Now Available for Android Users

In a recent announcement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed that WhatsApp is now rolling out the ‘search by date’ feature for Android devices running version 2.23.25.10 and higher. This popular feature, already available on iOS, Macs, and WhatsApp Web, allows users to efficiently locate messages sent from a specific date onwards.

How to Use WhatsApp Search By Date Feature on Android:

  1. Open WhatsApp on your Android device.
  2. Enter any chat.
  3. Tap on the contact or group name at the top.
  4. Click on ‘Search.’
  5. Specify the date you want to skip to.

This new functionality streamlines the process of finding specific messages within a chat, providing users with a more convenient and organized search experience. By simply selecting a date, users can skip directly to messages sent on or after that particular day.

In addition to searching by date, WhatsApp has been testing various other search-related features. Last year, reports indicated that the platform was working on chat filters such as “All,” “Unread,” “Contacts,” and “Groups.” A recent update suggests that a new filter called “Favorites” is also in development, enabling users to quickly check starred messages.

Moreover, WhatsApp is exploring a shortcut feature that allows users to share their QR code directly from the chats tab. While the current method involves sharing QR codes from the app settings, the upcoming update will offer a more direct and accessible approach directly within the chats tab interface.

It’s essential to note that when sharing the QR code, the username is likely to be displayed instead of the phone number. This hints at the potential introduction of username support in the future, aligning with WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to enhance user functionality and interaction within the app.

As WhatsApp continues to innovate and introduce new features, users can expect an improved messaging experience with added convenience and accessibility.
