Samsung Partners with KISA for Enhanced Spam Filtering in One UI 6.1.1

Samsung is gearing up to introduce One UI 6.1.1, featuring a new advanced spam text filtering capability. This feature will debut in South Korea, aligning with Samsung’s launch of new foldable phones in Paris next month. According to a recent report, the Korean units will ship with this advanced spam filtering technology, enhancing user experience and security.

Advanced Spam Filtering for South Korean Users

The upcoming Samsung foldables set to be unveiled next month will include this advanced spam text filtering feature with One UI 6.1.1. Initially, this feature will be available exclusively to South Korean consumers, with plans to extend it to older Galaxy devices in the region through an OTA (over-the-air) update.

Collaboration with KISA

Samsung has partnered with the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to enhance the spam filtering capabilities of its devices. KISA will provide spam verification data to Samsung, enabling the new filtering feature. Users will have the option to activate the filtering function and can check or recover any messages that are blocked by the system.

Pilot Testing and Implementation

Earlier this year, Samsung and KISA established a service operation environment in March, conducting pilot tests from April to July. This collaborative effort ensures the spam filtering feature is robust and effective. According to reports, the feature will be applied to all mobile phones released in the second half of the year, starting with the new foldable devices.

Expansion to Other Galaxy Models

The advanced spam filtering feature in One UI 6.1.1 will not be limited to new devices. Samsung plans to provide this functionality to other Galaxy models through a software update. Eligible Galaxy devices could receive this update as early as August. Furthermore, there are indications that Samsung may introduce a similar spam filtering method to global models in the near future.

Upcoming Galaxy Unpacked Event

Samsung’s highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event is expected to take place next month in Paris, France, coinciding with the kickoff of the 2024 Olympics in late July. At this event, Samsung may launch several new devices, including the Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Watch 7 series, Galaxy Ring, and Galaxy Buds 3 series. This event will not only showcase new hardware but also highlight software advancements like One UI 6.1.1.
