Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Series Introduces BP and ECG Tracking in India

Samsung, the South Korean tech giant, has introduced blood pressure (BP) and electrocardiogram (ECG) tracking to its Galaxy Watch 6 series in India. The announcement, made during the Galaxy Unpacked 2023 event, brings significant improvements to health monitoring and regular checkups on these smartwatches.

The new BP and ECG tracking features will be available to users in India through an over-the-air (OTA) update, enhancing the overall user experience and complementing regular medical checkups through the Samsung Health Monitor App. These enhancements have received regulatory approvals from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation, ensuring their reliability and accuracy.

While the Galaxy Watch 6 series gets immediate access to BP and ECG tracking, Samsung has assured users that the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 5 series will receive these features in the near future.

How to Measure BP on Samsung Galaxy Watch 6:

  1. Download the ‘Samsung Health Monitor App’: Install the app on both the watch and smartphone.
  2. Calibrate the Watch: Follow the provided instructions to calibrate the watch accurately.
  3. Wear the Watch: Place the watch on the wrist used during calibration, ensuring a snug fit for accurate BP measurement.
  4. Check Reading in the App: View your blood pressure reading within the Samsung Health Monitor app.

How to Take ECG Reading on Galaxy Watch 6:

  1. Connect to Samsung Device: Pair your watch with a Samsung device for optimal connectivity.
  2. Wear the Watch Correctly: Ensure the watch is worn snugly on the wrist.
  3. Access Samsung Health Monitor App: Open the app on your Galaxy device.
  4. Take Reading: Rest your fingertip from the opposite hand lightly on the Galaxy’s top button for 30 seconds.
  5. Review PDF Report: The ECG button is linked to a Galaxy phone, where you can access the complete PDF report.
