Revolutionizing Mobile Browsing: India’s Veera Targets 1 Billion Users

India, with its vast population of over 1 billion smartphone users, has become the new battleground for mobile internet browsers. Veera, a ‘Made in India’ mobile-only browser, is set to disrupt the market by offering a feature-rich browsing experience that goes beyond traditional desktop browsers. Built on the pillars of speed and safety, Veera has garnered substantial backing from marquee investors and entrepreneurs.

Arjun Ghose, previously an investor with VC firm Falcon Edge/Alpha Wave and McKinsey, Rahul Pagdipati, Chairman of the Board of Zebpay, Aditya Julka, serial entrepreneur and founder of Paddle8, and Kanu Gupta, part of the founding leadership of Goldman Sachs in India, have come together to create Veera, positioning it as a challenger browser designed specifically for the Indian audience.

“Our mission was to craft a faster, safer, and private browsing sanctuary for Indian internet users,” says Ghose. He emphasizes Veera’s unique position in the Indian market, where the average user spends approximately 7.3 hours per day online, making it a significant gateway to the internet for millions.

Backing Veera’s vision are prominent investors, including Ayon Capital, COG Network, 6th Man Ventures, Folius Ventures, and iSeed Ventures, as well as marquee angels such as Aalap Mahadevia (Briarwood Capital), Kabir Narang (B-Capital), Nikhil Mohta (Carlyle, ICICI Ventures), Kevin Hu (Brevam Howard), Saneel Srini (Moralis Capital), Ashwin Ramachandran, Viram Shah (Vested), and Devaiah Pagidipati (Freedom Health, Physician Partners, Anion Health).

Veera has set new benchmarks for mobile browsing, boasting blazing-fast speeds that clock in at 40.8 runs per minute on Speedometer. What sets Veera apart is its integrated live tracker, which provides real-time updates on blocked ads and trackers, accompanied by a visual representation of saved data.

In an era where user privacy is paramount, Veera takes a proactive stance by blocking third-party trackers, ads, autoplay videos, and more by default. The browser prioritizes user privacy and does not share user identities with third parties. It also blocks all known third-party ad servers, allowing users to explore the internet with confidence in their privacy.

Currently accessible exclusively on Android devices, Veera has plans to expand its reach by soon launching versions for iOS and Windows. With its commitment to speed, safety, and user privacy, Veera aims to redefine the mobile browsing experience for India’s vast smartphone user base.
