Registering Single-Word Domains: Google’s Innovative ‘.ing’ Extension

Google has introduced a novel domain extension, “.ing,” which enables brands and businesses to construct their websites using a single word. Users can now secure .ing domains during Google’s early access period, although an additional one-time fee is applicable.

In a recent blog post, Google elaborated on the versatility of this top-level domain, stating, “This top-level domain is ready for whatever you’re interested in, whether it’s mak.ing a fun website, giv.ing to a good cause, design.ing something beautiful, or edit.ing an existing document.”

To acquire their unique .ing domains, users can register through partner companies such as GoDaddy and 101Domain. The early access period will remain active until December 5, with gradually decreasing fees.

Starting December 5 at 16:00 UTC, .ing domains will become publicly available at a base annual price through users’ preferred registrars.

Google is also developing a “.meme” top-level domain, as previously disclosed in an August Google Registry post. Although the .meme domain is currently in a limited registration phase, early access to it will commence on November 28. Full-scale registration for the .meme domain will officially launch on December 5.

In addition to these domain innovations, Google has enhanced its AI chatbot Bard to provide faster real-time responses. Users can now expect prompt answers from Bard, with responses displaying in real-time as inquiries are processed.

Moreover, if a user determines that a response is not pertinent, a “Skip response” button is available for streamlined interactions.

These Google updates aim to enhance user experiences and provide additional resources for website creation and AI-driven chat interactions.
