Proximus Inks Agreement With Digi Belgium and Citymesh for Wholesale Access

Proximus, the prominent Belgian telecommunications company, has recently sealed an exclusive 5-year agreement with Digi Communications Belgium and Citymesh Connect. This collaborative agreement is aimed at facilitating the expansion of mobile services and infrastructure by providing wholesale access to Proximus’ robust mobile network.

The agreement between Proximus, Digi Communications Belgium, and Citymesh Connect involves a significant strategic move that will benefit all parties involved. Under the terms of this agreement, Proximus, which serves as a distinguished telecommunications and digital service provider, will grant Digi Communications Belgium and Citymesh Connect wholesale access to its extensive mobile network. This access will empower both Digi Communications Belgium and Citymesh Connect to offer their services to customers without the need for extensive infrastructure development.

The scope of the agreement is national in scale, as Proximus extends its wholesale mobile services across the entire country. The contract establishes the framework for delivering mobile wholesale services on a nationwide basis. Notably, as part of this arrangement, Proximus will also propose the decommissioning of approximately 400 mobile sites that it currently owns. These sites will subsequently become available for acquisition by InSky, a specialized company involved in deploying infrastructure for both Digi Communications Belgium and Citymesh Connect.

The leadership at Proximus expressed their confidence in this agreement, emphasizing the mutual benefits it brings to all parties. They highlighted the fact that Digi Communications Belgium and Citymesh Connect’s decision to collaborate with Proximus underscores the company’s mobile excellence and affirms the strength of their open network strategy. This strategy positions Proximus to harness the potential of capacity, coverage, and performance offered by their high-speed gigabit networks.

This collaboration not only optimizes the utilization of existing resources but also paves the way for the expansion and enhancement of the mobile infrastructure operated by both Digi Communications Belgium and Citymesh Connect. Through this partnership, the telecom landscape in Belgium stands to benefit from increased access and improved services, fostering a more connected and efficient digital ecosystem.
