Meta’s Instagram and Facebook Experience Global Outage, Disrupting User Access

Meta-owned social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Facebook Messenger, experienced a widespread outage today, affecting users not only in India but also in various parts of the world, including the United States. DownDetector.com recorded over 3 lakh reports of outages in the US, while more than 15,000 users reported issues with Instagram and Facebook in India. Users faced difficulties such as the inability to refresh their Instagram feed and login troubles on Facebook.

As of now, the reason behind the outage remains unclear, and only Meta-owned apps appear to be affected. The company has yet to provide an official update on the situation, and users are eagerly awaiting information about the restoration of services.

Interestingly, around the same time as Meta’s outage, Google-owned platforms, including YouTube, Google Play Store, and Google Search, also experienced outages for many users, as reported by DownDetector.com. However, the impact on Google-owned apps seems to be less severe compared to the Meta outage.

Users took to social media platforms, especially X (formerly Twitter), to share their frustration and experiences during the outage. Memes and humorous posts emerged as users found a way to lighten the situation. This marks the first significant outage for Meta this year, and users are hopeful for a prompt resolution and the return of normal service.
