LG Unveils UltraGear 32GS95UE: A 4K OLED Gaming Monitor with Dual Refresh Rate Feature

Gamers’ long-standing wish for a 4K OLED gaming monitor has been answered with LG’s latest release, the UltraGear 32GS95UE, unveiled at CES 2024. This cutting-edge gaming monitor not only boasts a 4K resolution but also introduces a remarkable dual refresh rate feature, catering to the demands of gamers who seek both high resolution and exceptional refresh rates.

At the heart of the UltraGear 32GS95UE is a WOLED panel from LG, incorporating Micro Lens Array (MLA) technology. Building upon the success of the LG UltraGear OLED 27 from the previous year, this new monitor enhances specs while maintaining the excellent contrast and HDR performance of OLED. LG goes a step further by pushing the brightness to a remarkable 1,300 nits, ensuring an immersive and visually stunning gaming experience.

The dual refresh rate feature is a game-changer, allowing users to seamlessly switch between 4K at 240Hz and 1080p at an impressive 480Hz with a single button press. The instantaneous transition, either through a hotkey or joystick press, provides flexibility for users who prioritize resolution and those who prioritize refresh rate. While the option for 480Hz is commendable, some users may find the shift in resolution noticeable, given the swift back-and-forth between 1080p and 4K.

The monitor’s 32-inch size, coupled with the 4K resolution, offers an ideal pixel density for high-resolution gaming. The responsiveness of the OLED display, combined with the 240Hz refresh rate at 4K, ensures unmatched motion clarity.

LG’s UltraGear branding remains understated, focusing on performance rather than flashy design. However, in comparison to Samsung’s Odyssey OLED G8 showcased at CES, some may find the UltraGear 32GS95UE’s design to be more basic.

The rivalry between LG and Samsung extends beyond design, as both companies race to deliver superior image quality with their 4K OLED displays featuring a 240Hz refresh rate. LG’s use of MLA OLED contrasts with Samsung’s QD-OLED, and the competition is expected to intensify, particularly regarding brightness, considering LG’s bold claims.

While LG has not disclosed pricing and availability details for the UltraGear 32GS95UE, the anticipation is high, given the growing demand for OLED gaming monitors. As early impressions indicate promising quality, gamers hope that LG will not only meet but exceed expectations in terms of value.
