Instagram Threads Introduces New Update with iOS 17 Public Beta Support and More

Threads, the popular messaging app by Instagram, has released a new update for its iOS application, bringing several improvements and bug fixes to enhance the user experience. The update includes support for iOS 17 public beta, ensuring compatibility with the latest operating system. Along with this, other notable changes have been implemented to address various issues and enhance functionality.

Cameron Roth, an Instagram software engineer, announced the update on Threads, stating, “New @threadsapp iOS update dropped today! Check out what we’ve been hard at work cooking up.” One of the key improvements in the update is the ability to use the app on iOS 17 without experiencing crashes, ensuring a seamless experience for users on the latest operating system.

Additionally, the update introduces the option to expand pictures on profiles, allowing users to view images in full size. This feature provides a better viewing experience and enables users to explore content more easily. The update also addresses the issue of random images appearing on the threadline, ensuring a more organized and streamlined interface.

Furthermore, the update focuses on optimizing the app’s performance by trimming the binary size, which can result in faster loading times and improved overall responsiveness. In addition, the update enables the full viewability of extra-tall photos, allowing users to fully appreciate and engage with visual content.

The new update also enhances scroll dismiss handling on profiles, making it easier for users to navigate through profiles without any interruptions or glitches. This improvement contributes to a smoother and more intuitive user interface.

In a recent video, Instagram head Adam Mosseri shared that upcoming features for Threads include a following feed, editing capabilities, multiple account support, post search functionality, hashtags, web presence indicators, like lists, and translations. These upcoming features aim to further enrich the user experience and provide users with more tools and options to connect and engage with their followers.

Since its launch on July 5, Threads has gained tremendous popularity, quickly becoming the top free app on the App Store. It achieved impressive milestones, with over 100 million user sign-ups within a week of its launch. The app garnered 2 million sign-ups in just two hours, followed by 10 million users within seven hours, and an astonishing 30 million users within 12 hours.

The new update demonstrates Instagram’s commitment to continuously improving Threads and providing users with a seamless and enjoyable messaging experience. Users can now enjoy the latest features and enhancements by updating their Threads app on iOS devices.
