Meta Platforms’ Instagram, a leading social media platform for photo-sharing, recently experienced a widespread outage, disrupting access for thousands of users across the globe, according to reports from outage tracking website Downdetector.com.
During the outage, which affected users predominantly in the United States, more than 5,000 individuals encountered difficulties accessing the platform. Users reported a range of issues, including login failures, app malfunctions, and server connection problems, with a significant majority (70 percent) experiencing login issues, followed by app problems (19 percent) and server connection issues (11 percent).
This outage, reminiscent of a similar incident earlier this month, sheds light on the integral role Instagram plays in daily communication and content sharing for millions worldwide.
On March 5, both Facebook and Instagram, both owned by Meta Platforms, faced a worldwide outage, resulting in widespread login issues and involuntary logouts for users. Additionally, some users encountered difficulties refreshing Instagram pages and were prompted to change their passwords as a precautionary measure.
The recurrence of such technical disruptions underscores the profound reliance on social media platforms like Instagram for various purposes, including personal communication, networking, and content dissemination.
In response to the outage, frustrated users turned to alternative platforms to voice their concerns and seek updates on the restoration of services.
As of now, Meta Platforms has not issued an official statement regarding the cause or expected duration of the recent outage, leaving users awaiting further clarification and resolution.
