Hold Off on Your M2 Mac Purchase: Apple’s M3 Chip is on the Horizon

Apple’s M1 silicon chips revolutionized the personal computing industry, and the company quickly followed up with the introduction of the M2 chip for the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. However, recent reports suggest that Apple is already working on the next iteration, the M3 silicon chips, for its Mac products.

According to a report from Bloomberg, renowned analyst Mark Gurman has indicated that Apple is planning to launch MacBooks with M3 chips in October. This upcoming lineup may include products such as the iMac, MacBook Air (13-inch), and MacBook Pro (13-inch) powered by the M3 chip. It is unclear whether the 15-inch MacBook Air will also feature the M3 chip, as Apple recently introduced a new MacBook Air with a 15-inch display and the M2 chip.

In another report, TF Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo mentioned that Apple will utilize the 2nd-generation TSMC 3nm process for the production of its M3 and A17 Bionic chips. The A17 Bionic chips are expected to be featured in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models.

The M3 Pro and M3 Max chips are likely to enter production in the first half of 2024. The next major launch event from Apple is anticipated to be the September iPhone event, where multiple new products are expected to be unveiled, including the iPhone 15 series and the Apple Watch 9 series.

While it remains unknown if there will be a new edition of the Apple Watch Ultra, consumers currently have the option to purchase the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch and 15-inch models in several countries where Apple products are sold.

In India, the official Apple website lists the Apple MacBook Air 15-inch with the M2 chip priced at Rs 1,34,900. However, customers may find lower prices at other retailers.

As Apple continues to innovate with its silicon chips, users may want to hold off on purchasing a Mac with the M2 chip, as the M3 chip is expected to bring further advancements and enhancements to Apple’s Mac lineup.
