Google Addresses Android 14 Bug Affecting Multiple Profiles on Pixel Phones

Google’s recent release of the Android 14 operating system has encountered a bug, primarily impacting Pixel 6 owners utilizing multiple user profiles. The bug, characterized by issues such as missing apps and user accounts locked out of internal storage, has prompted Google to take action and resolve the problem.

A Pixel-Specific Issue: The bug came to the forefront when Android 14 started rolling out, predominantly affecting Pixel 6 users. Complaints ranged from devices stuck in boot loops to encountering a “Pixel is starting…” message, and some users even found themselves unable to access their device’s storage for saving screenshots.

Google’s Response: A Google spokesperson acknowledged the problem and assured users that their team is actively investigating and working on a solution. They provided a statement: “Our team is looking into this storage issue affecting some Pixel devices running Android 14, and we’re working hard on a fix. We’ll update this thread with more details soon.”

User Concerns and Resolution: The Google issue tracker received numerous reports from Pixel owners, with over 350 replies, and the issue extended to users of various devices. However, with Google’s team now involved in the investigation, a fix is expected to be released promptly, addressing the concerns raised by affected users.

About Android 14: Android 14 was officially released on October 4, 2023, and it made its debut on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro devices. This latest Android version is designed to offer users enhanced customization options, more control over their health and safety, and improved accessibility features.
