Elon Musk’s Unique Auction: Twitter Relics, Office Assets, and More!

Elon Musk, the visionary tech billionaire, has embarked on an intriguing venture by putting up an eclectic assortment of items from the Twitter building for an auction. This decision comes hot on the heels of the company’s rebranding to X, making it a notable event in the world of tech and collectibles. The upcoming auction, titled ‘Twitter Rebranding: Online Auction Featuring Memorabilia, Art, Office Assets & More!’, is scheduled to kick off on September 12 and conclude two days later, as reported by the BBC.

Heritage Global Partners, the auction house overseeing the event, has revealed that each item carries a minimum bidding price of $25. This unique collection encompasses a wide array of items, showcasing the distinctive charm of the Twitter era. Among the 584 items set to grace the auction, one can find coffee tables, spacious bird cages, and oil paintings commemorating pictures that attained viral fame. Adding to the intrigue, the offerings also feature numerous desks and chairs, a DJ booth, and an impressive array of musical instruments capable of outfitting a complete band.

Notably, a Twitter sign that still adorns the exterior of the company’s headquarters on 10th Street in San Francisco is among the listed items. The description reads, “Bird is still mounted on side of the building. Buyer is responsible for hiring an SF Licensed Company with appropriate Permits.”

The artistic dimension is not overlooked in this auction. Two striking oil paintings depict iconic pictures that gained widespread recognition. One painting immortalizes Ellen Degeneres’ star-studded selfie captured during the 2014 Academy Awards. The other masterpiece captures the image that former US President Barack Obama shared after his re-election in November 2012. This image held the distinction of being the most-liked tweet on the platform at that time, embodying a significant moment in digital history.

This isn’t the first time that Musk’s company has engaged in such an auction. Earlier this year, in January, the San Francisco headquarters of the Musk-owned company saw a remarkable auction, featuring a myriad of items including the bird statue and various other office assets.

As the auction approaches, enthusiasts and collectors alike are undoubtedly eager to lay their hands on these distinctive artifacts that carry both historical and artistic significance, encapsulating the transformative years of Twitter’s evolution into X.
