Discover More, Watch Better: Apple TV App Upgrade in tvOS 17.2 Beta 2

In a significant development, Apple is rolling out tvOS 17.2 beta 2, marking another step in the testing phase for users. The highlight of this update is the revamped Apple TV app, a transformation reported initially by Bloomberg and now actively undergoing testing by Apple.

A Fresh Look at the Apple TV App: The tvOS 17.2 update brings a new and improved Apple TV app, featuring a sidebar menu that encapsulates all things Apple. This includes sections like TV+, MLS Season Pass, Store, Library, along with the user’s channels and apps. The redesign aims to provide users with a more intuitive and comprehensive navigation experience.

Notable Changes in Interface: Despite the overhaul, the iTunes Movie app remains intact, serving as a standalone application. The sidebar menu allows users to easily navigate through various Apple-related content by tapping on specific sections. For instance, selecting the Apple TV+ section unveils everything related to Apple’s proprietary streaming service, while the Library section organizes purchased movies with familiar filters like “4K HDR,” genres, and more.

Streamlined Access to Channels and Apps: One noteworthy improvement is the enhanced accessibility to channels and apps. Previously, users could explore content from third-party apps, but this update makes it significantly easier to discover and keep track of everything users are watching on different platforms.

Store Section Interface: The Store section within the Apple TV app maintains a familiar interface in tvOS 17.2 beta. Users can explore the Top Movies Chart, genre-based options, and view their purchase history, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly shopping experience.

Additional Features in the Pipeline: Beyond the revamped interface, Apple is gearing up for additional features. Collaborative Playlists on Apple Music are in the works, with the beta version introducing the Favorites Playlist. Furthermore, Apple Fitness+ users will soon have the option to focus on either the audio of the trainer or the accompanying music during their workouts.

As Apple continues to refine the tvOS 17.2 beta, users can anticipate a more immersive and user-friendly Apple TV experience, with enhanced content discovery and added features to enrich their entertainment ecosystem.
