CtrlS and NT Partner for 150 MW Data Center in Chonburi, Thailand

CtrlS Datacenters, known as Asia’s largest Rated-4 Data Center operator, has teamed up with Thailand’s National Telecom Public Company (NT), a state-owned telecommunications entity, to establish a significant hyperscale data center in Chonburi, Thailand. The collaboration aims to capitalize on the data center’s strategic location within Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC), its connectivity to international submarine cable systems, and the growing demand for digital infrastructure services.

Key Features of the Collaboration

The partnership between CtrlS Datacenters and NT centers around the establishment of a hyperscale data center that offers a range of services including colocation, network connectivity, and cloud solutions. Here are the key highlights:

Hyperscale Data Center Build CtrlS is undertaking the construction of a hyperscale data center facility spread across a 10-acre plot in Chonburi. The designed capacity of this data center is an impressive 150 MW. This marks a significant expansion for CtrlS, marking its debut in the international market and the establishment of its first hyperscale data center in Thailand.

Strategic Location in EEC The chosen location within Thailand’s Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) holds strategic significance. It positions the data center near submarine cable landing stations (CLS) for existing and upcoming international cable systems. This proximity to key cable systems, including the Asia-America Gateway (AAG) and Asia Direct Cable (ADC), scheduled for launch in Q1 2024, enhances the data center’s connectivity to global markets.

Convergence of Services The collaboration integrates various services under the Convergence of DCT (Data center, CLS, and Terrestrial) model. This includes data center colocation, cable landing station services, network connectivity, and cloud-based solutions. By offering a comprehensive suite of services, the collaboration aims to cater to a wide range of digital infrastructure needs.

Digitalization and Connectivity in Thailand Thailand’s concerted efforts towards digitalization, the deployment of 5G technology, and the expansion of submarine cable connections have positioned the country as an attractive hub for digital infrastructure. This aligns well with the establishment of a state-of-the-art data center that can cater to evolving digital demands.

Target Industries The hyperscale data center’s strategic placement within the Eastern Economic Corridor is expected to attract customers from diverse industries including Automotive, Manufacturing, Petrochemicals, and food processing. These industries can benefit from the enhanced digital capabilities and connectivity provided by the data center.

NT’s Telecom Infrastructure National Telecom Public Company (NT) has developed a robust telecommunication infrastructure within the Eastern Economic Corridor. With multiple connection points to neighboring countries and extensive worldwide coverage through submarine cable systems, NT’s contribution bolsters the data center’s connectivity and reach.

Lease Agreement CtrlS secured a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with the Eastern Economic Corridor Office (EECO) in July 2023. This agreement grants CtrlS a 50-year lease on a 10-acre land parcel in Chonburi Province, enabling the establishment of the hyperscale data center.

Promoting Digital Advancements

The partnership between CtrlS Datacenters and NT underscores the growing importance of strategic location, robust connectivity, and comprehensive service offerings in the development of modern data center infrastructure. As businesses increasingly rely on digital solutions, partnerships of this nature play a pivotal role in expanding the capabilities of communication networks and facilitating digital advancements on a global scale.
