Ateme’s 5G Broadcasting Solution Marks Historic 5G Transmission in the US

Ateme, a leading provider of video compression, delivery, and streaming solutions, has achieved a groundbreaking milestone by powering the first-ever transmission of a 5G signal over a licensed broadcast facility in the United States. This remarkable achievement was part of a proof of concept for 5G Broadcast presented to the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC), showcasing the potential of Ateme’s cutting-edge 5G Broadcasting Solution.

Ateme’s 5G Broadcasting Solution Makes History

In July, the FCC granted Milachi Media experimental temporary authority (STA) to conduct testing of 5G-based broadcast services, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of broadcasting technology.

The 5G Broadcast proof of concept was carried out by Milachi Media-owned TV station WWOO-LD, with crucial support from Qualcomm. This demonstration represents a significant milestone in the US media industry, particularly in the realms of video delivery and public safety.

Live Stream at XGen Network

The historic live stream took place on Wednesday, September 13th, at 10:30 am at XGen Network. XGen Network plays a vital role in deploying 5G Broadcasting facilities in the US and actively contributes to the development of new technologies for the 5G Broadcast platform.

Unlocking the Potential of 5G Broadcast

Ateme’s 5G Broadcasting Solution leverages multicast technology to empower broadcasters by reducing transmission costs, expanding their audience reach, and introducing innovative ways for viewers to consume TV content, all while minimizing latency. Moreover, this technology liberates broadcasters from reliance on mobile network operators through the use of unlocked SIMs, granting them greater independence in delivering video content.

This solution is particularly suited for the mass delivery of content, including live sports events, concerts, and emergency alerts. Notably, 5G Broadcast’s coverage area surpasses that of alternative broadcasting methods, with antennas boasting a range of over 50 miles.

A Global Trailblazer in 5G Broadcast

Prior to this groundbreaking demonstration in the US, Ateme had already been at the forefront of 5G Broadcast technology adoption in multiple markets worldwide, including India, Brazil, and Europe. Ateme’s comprehensive 5G Broadcast solution, encompassing live encoding, efficient packaging, and multiplexing, has successfully transmitted sports events and song contests in various countries, including France, Austria, and Germany.
