Apple’s iPhone 16 Lineup: Consistency in A18-Series Chipsets Expected

Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 models are generating significant buzz, not just for their expected features but also for a potential change in their chipset nomenclature. Recent reports suggest that all four iPhone 16 models may sport A18-series chips, marking a noteworthy transition. This change implies continuity in Apple’s commitment to innovation and performance. Let’s delve into the details.

All About the A18-Series Chipsets

Apple’s iPhone 15 and 15 Plus currently employ the A16 Bionic chipset, which offers impressive performance. However, for the iPhone 16 lineup, Apple is rumored to leapfrog the A17 Pro and go straight for the A18-series chipsets. These chips will be based on TSMC’s advanced second-generation 3nm process known as ‘N3E.’ The baseline iPhone 16 models, iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, are anticipated to house the A18 chip, while the more advanced iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will feature the A18 Pro chip.

A Bold Move

This transition from the A16 Bionic to A18-series chips represents a bold move by Apple. Typically, Apple follows a pattern of incremental chipset upgrades. Skipping the A17 Pro that debuted with the iPhone 15 Pro models is a significant departure from this pattern. The A17 Pro chip is built on TSMC’s first-generation 3nm process, referred to as ‘N3B.’

Changing the Nomenclature?

Although it’s anticipated that the new processors will be dubbed A18 and A18 Pro, Apple is known for keeping its users and enthusiasts guessing. There is also a possibility that the nomenclature might align with the recent trend of branding the chips as A17 and A18 Pro.

Apple’s Attractive Offers

In the midst of these exciting developments, Apple has announced appealing offers on its iPhone lineup in India. These offers include instant savings and trade-in deals on select models. The discounts range from Rs 2,000 on the iPhone SE to Rs 6,000 on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. Additionally, Apple provides attractive EMI options to enhance affordability for its customers.

Dates to Remember

These special offers began on October 15 and will be available until November 14, with the exception of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus models, which will continue to be available with offers until November 7.
