As the year 2024 unfolds, tech enthusiasts eagerly await the release of Apple’s groundbreaking spatial computer, the Vision Pro. Announced at WWDC 2023, this revolutionary headset is poised to redefine the realms of augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR). Release Date and Pricing

The much-anticipated Apple Vision Pro is expected to hit the shelves between late January and February, with rumors speculating a potential release on January 27th. However, more reliable sources suggest a mid-February launch. It’s worth noting that the initial release will be exclusive to the United States, leaving international enthusiasts eager for further announcements.

As for pricing, the Apple Vision Pro comes with a starting price tag of $3,499. Despite this information, specific details about internal specifications, including RAM capacity and storage, remain undisclosed. Additionally, partnered with Zeiss, Apple offers prescription lenses as optional accessories, with pricing yet to be revealed.

Design and Aesthetics

The Apple Vision Pro boasts a premium design, featuring an aluminum frame and high-end mesh akin to the AirPods Max. Unlike conventional headsets, it prioritizes interaction, incorporating an EyeSight feature that displays the user’s eyes and expressions through the outer display. The device’s enclosure is crafted from a single piece of three-dimensional laminated glass, providing a seamless and precise fit with the Light Seal technology blocking out stray light.

The device is equipped with two 4k micro OLED displays, totaling 23 million pixels, and a range of cameras for immersive VR and AR experiences. A Digital Crown allows users to seamlessly switch between modes.

Processor, Sensors, and Cameras

Apple’s proprietary M2 processor powers the Vision Pro, simultaneously running the visionOS, executing advanced computer vision algorithms, and delivering stunning graphics. A dedicated R1 chip processes input from the myriad of cameras, sensors, and microphones, providing a virtually lag-free, real-time view of the world.

The Apple Vision Pro incorporates 12 cameras and five sensors responsible for hand gestures, environment mapping, and spatial imaging. Infrared flood illuminators enhance hand tracking in low-light conditions, while LiDAR depth sensors, familiar from iPhones and iPads, contribute to the device’s spatial awareness.

visionOS and Features

Apple introduces visionOS, a new operating system for the spatial computer, boasting features such as Optic ID for iris scanning, Cinema Environment for an immersive multimedia experience, and enhanced FaceTime capabilities. The system offers accessibility features similar to other Apple devices, alongside intuitive gestures for device control.

Battery and Future Possibilities

Contrary to a built-in battery, the Apple Vision Pro utilizes an external battery, offering up to two hours of power. Users can attach the external battery via a cable and carry it conveniently in their pockets. While the absence of a built-in battery may raise concerns, the flexibility of external batteries opens possibilities for varied usage scenarios.

Apple Vision Pro 2 Rumors

Even before the release of the first generation, rumors surrounding the Apple Vision Pro 2 have surfaced. Speculations suggest brighter, more efficient displays, with a potential upgrade to an RGB OLEDoS display by 2027. Analysts anticipate a second-generation release by 2027, hinting at significant advancements in display technology.
