Advancing Conversational Boundaries: Microsoft Unleashes ChatGPT-4 Turbo in Bing Chat

In a bid to elevate the user experience, Microsoft is introducing ChatGPT-4 Turbo to Bing Chat (Microsoft Copilot) for a selected group of random testers, providing them with advanced conversational capabilities. Additionally, the tech giant is gearing up to upgrade the Code Interpreter feature, aligning it with the robust capabilities of OpenAI. This move aims to enhance Bing Chat’s programming and data-related functionalities.

ChatGPT-4 Turbo Unleashed:

The newly introduced GPT-4 Turbo model is an upgraded version of ChatGPT, based on the existing GPT-4 architecture. Infused with information up to April 2023, this model ensures more accurate responses to queries, especially those related to recent events. Currently available exclusively for plus subscribers, ChatGPT-4 Turbo is integrated into Microsoft Copilot, empowering users with advanced conversational AI.

Bing Chat Rollout and Model Switching:

Microsoft is gradually deploying ChatGPT-4 Turbo to Bing Chat, with random testers being the first to access this feature for free. The rollout, confirmed by Microsoft sources, is set to expand in the coming weeks. However, it’s crucial to note that Bing Chat dynamically switches between different models based on the nature of the query.

The access to ChatGPT-4 Turbo via Bing Chat is entirely random, determined by a process officially known as “A/B” testing. Microsoft has assured users that it does not favor specific accounts or regions during this testing phase.

How to Confirm Access to GPT-4 Turbo:

To check if you have access to Bing Chat’s GPT-4 Turbo model, users can visit Bing.com/chat, start a new topic, and inspect the webpage’s source code. By using Edge or Chrome’s “Find on page” feature, users can search for “dlgpt4t.” If references to dlgpt4t are found in the source code, it indicates access to the newest OpenAI model.

On mobile devices, users can confirm eligibility for ChatGPT-4 Turbo by uploading an image, preferably an abstract image, and asking Bing Chat to explain the emotions. Unlike older models, GPT-4 Turbo can seamlessly identify and discuss emotions without explicitly revealing its AI nature.

Bing Chat Plugins and Search Mode:

Microsoft aims to keep ChatGPT’s information up-to-date by integrating Bing Search by default. However, users can now disable Bing entirely by turning off the “search” plugin through the new plugins tab. This modification ensures Bing Chat relies solely on its trained data without scanning the Bing search index for answers.

In the absence of the “search” plugin, Bing Chat dynamically switches to GPT-4, offering users the latest information and responses.
