Aurangabad, October 31: The EMMTC – MSLTA Asian Under 16 Tennis Championship, conducted under the auspices of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF), All India Tennis Association (AITA), and the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA), witnessed a flurry of upsets as seven seeds were shown the door in the boys’ and girls’ second-round matches. The action unfolded at the EMMTC Tennis complex in Aurangabad.

Seeds Tumble in Boys’ Division

Marathwada’s Shivtej Shirfule pulled off a remarkable upset by defeating third-seeded Prakaash Sarran with a score of 5-7, 6-4, 6-3, securing a place in the boys’ quarter-finals. In other surprising outcomes, Fazal Ali Meer outplayed seventh seed Daksh Mudunoori with a score of 6-3, 6-3, and unseeded Aditya Acharya delivered a stunning performance, knocking out eighth seed Shashank Karnati with a score of 6-4, 6-0.

Girls’ Section Sees Shocking Results

In the girls’ section, Twisha Nandankar registered a memorable win by defeating third-seeded Dakshanasree S.R with a score of 4-6, 6-0, 6-0. Riddhi Shinde managed to knock out fourth-seeded Madhumita Ramesh with a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-3. Riya Gangamma Pudiyokkada delivered a flawless performance by blanking fifth seed Prutha Rao with a score of 6-0, 6-0, and Dhanashree Patil outplayed sixth seed Mishka Bhaskar Tayade with a score of 6-0, 6-2.

Impressive Performances in Pre-Quarterfinal Round

The pre-quarterfinal round showcased several remarkable performances. In the boys’ category, Hruthik Katakam (seeded first) defeated Ishan Khadeer with a score of 6-1, 6-2, while second-seeded Ayush Poojary secured a convincing win against Sahil Kothari with a score of 6-0, 6-2. Krishank Joshi displayed his dominance by defeating Kabir Jaitly with a flawless 6-0, 6-0 score. Nived Konerira (seeded fourth) emerged victorious against Yashraj Jarwal with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

In the girls’ category, top-seeded Parthsarthi Arun Mundhe defeated Kavya Deshmukh with a score of 6-1, 6-1, and second-seeded Vrandika Rajput secured a win against Meha Patil with a score of 6-2, 6-3.
