Kolhapur, Aug 7 (UNI) First-ranked Sriraj Bhosale beat his nearest rival Pranav Patil and won the Pioneer Cup Open Chess competition organised by Chess Association, Kolhapur together with Kolhapur District Chess Association here on Monday.
Bhosale, who was leading in ninth round, defeated Patil by 8.50 points and won the cup along with cash award of Rs 8,000.
In another game, Soham Khasbardar shocked second-ranked Muddassar Patel by beating him by eight points and bagged the runners-up trophy along with cash prize of Rs 6,000.
In yet another game, Onkar Kadav (Mumbai) drew with Abhishek Ganigar (Belgaum of Karnataka) and was the second runners-up with 7.5 points. He got cash prize of Rs 4,000.
