SNBP Academy and Army Boys Secure Semifinal Spots in Pune Hockey Tournament

In the ongoing 7th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament (Boys’ Under-16) held at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune, SNBP Academy and Army Boys Sports Company have stormed into the semifinals with notable victories.

The tournament, organized by the S.E Society’s SNBP Group of Institutes under the aegis of Hockey India and Hockey Maharashtra, has witnessed fierce competition among young hockey talents.

SNBP Academy’s Dominant Win: SNBP Academy, led by three-goal scorer Satyam Kumar Patel (35th, 39th, 49th), secured an emphatic victory in their quarterfinal match against Bhongir Academy Telangana, winning 11-0. This one-sided affair saw SNBP Academy completing the lineup for the semifinals.

Army Boys’ Upset Victory: In a thrilling quarterfinal, Army Boys Sports Company managed to pull off an upset by defeating the 2022 winners, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) from Amritsar. The match ended 4-3 in favor of Army Boys Sports Company after a shootout. Nitesh Sharma (18th) and skipper Manjeet (41st) showcased their accuracy off penalty-corners for ABSC, which was matched by Jasmeet Singh (37th) and (51st) for SGPC. The shootout proved decisive, with ABSC emerging as the victors.

Other Results: Earlier in the day, Dhyanchand Academy secured a comfortable 6-0 win over RK Roy Academy, while Round Glass Academy defeated Sports Hostel Jhansi with a convincing score of 6-2. These results led to Dhyanchand Academy and Round Glass Academy booking their spots in the semifinals.

The upcoming semifinals promise to deliver intense hockey action as the teams vie for a place in the finals of the tournament.
