SNBP Academy Advances to Quarterfinals in Thrilling 7th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament


The 7th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament for Boys’ Under-16, held at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, was marked by intense competition as numerous teams battled for a coveted spot in the quarterfinals. The tournament featured a host of talented teams, including the defending champions SGPC Amritsar, Sports Hostel Jhansi, Round Glass Academy, Bhongir Academy Telangana, Army Boys Sports Company, Jai Hockey Academy, Dhyanchand Academy, and the host team, SNBP Academy.

In Pool-E, SNBP Academy secured their place in the quarterfinals with a walkover victory, as Naval Tata Hockey Academy forfeited their match. This propelled SNBP Academy to the top of their pool with six points, having previously defeated Olympian Bhaskaran Hockey Academy.

Defending champions SGPC Amritsar displayed their prowess in Pool-C, defeating Regional Development Centre with an impressive scoreline of 5-0. Skipper Harmanbeer Singh led the way with a goal from a penalty corner in the 11th minute. Gurpreet Singh contributed with two goals (18th, 29th), while Goyalpreet Singh (52nd) and Harjit Singh (58th) added to the tally.

In a remarkable performance in Pool-G, Round Glass Academy secured their spot in the quarterfinals with a resounding 10-2 victory over Sukhjeevan Sports Academy. Amandeep Singh was the star of the match, scoring four goals (25th – p.c, 29th – p.c, 45th, 58th – p.c) for Round Glass Academy. Other scorers included Jasmeet Singh, Inderjit Singh, Deepakpreet Singh, Samuel, Sajan Rajbhar, and Manish Kumar. Kunal Rajbhar (43rd) and Akash Rajbhar (56th) reduced the margin for Sukhjeevan Sports Academy.

Sports Hostel Jhansi displayed their dominance in Pool-B, delivering a massive 10-0 defeat to Tata Steel Foundation. Pralahad Panday scored three goals (10th, 17th, 40th), while Vivek Yadav and Akhilesh Yadav each contributed a brace. Karan Dhanuk and Shivam added to the scoreline.

The 7th SNBP All-India Hockey Tournament is organized by the S.E Society’s SNBP Group of Institutes under the aegis of Hockey India and Hockey Maharashtra. The tournament continues to showcase the young talent in the field of hockey and promises more exciting matches as it progresses.
