PYC-Goldfieldd MANDKE TROPHY: Deccan Gymkhana to Face Poona Club in Title Showdown

In a thrilling semifinal clash, Deccan Gymkhana emerged victorious over PBKJCA by a margin of 12 runs, securing their spot in the finals of the PYC-Goldfieldd MANDKE TROPHY. Nikunj Vithlani and Abhishek Pawar’s impressive centuries in the first innings for PBKJCA were overshadowed by Deccan Gymkhana’s determined performance.

The PYC-Goldfieldd MANDKE TROPHY, organized by PYC Hindu Gymkhana and sponsored by Goldfieldd Properties, has been a platform for showcasing top-tier cricket talent, and this semifinal was no exception.

In the other semifinal, Poona Club displayed a strong performance, securing a seven-wicket victory over United Sports Club. The road to the finals has been marked by intense competition and remarkable cricketing feats.

In the first innings, Deccan Gymkhana set a target of 277 runs for PBKJCA, with Nikunj Vithlani (not out 135) and Abhishek Pawar (133) delivering exceptional performances. PBKJCA responded with 293 runs for the loss of four wickets, taking a 16-run lead.

In the second innings, Deccan Gymkhana’s partnership between Suraj Shinde (75 runs) and Tushar Shrivastav (60 runs) added 66 runs in 60 balls, setting a total of 184 runs in 20 overs. PBKJCA, however, fell short, managing only 156 runs and losing nine wickets in the process.

In the second semifinal, United Sports Club set a target of 137 runs for Deccan Gymkhana, who managed to achieve the target by scoring 145 runs with just three wickets down.

The stage is now set for the finals, where Deccan Gymkhana will lock horns with Poona Club for the title. Cricket enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting showdown on September 15th and 16th at PYC ground.
