Over 180 Players Participating in 1st KCA Pune Open Chess Tournament

Pune, July 15, 2023: The 1st KCA Pune Open chess tournament, organized by Kunte Chess Academy, is set to witness the participation of over 180 players. The tournament will take place at Shree Ganesh Sabhagruha, Karve Road on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

Mrunalini Kunte, the Tournament Director, has announced that the event will be held under the auspices of the Pune District Chess Circle (PDCC). The tournament will follow the Swiss league format, ensuring an exciting and competitive atmosphere. There will be two categories: Group B, consisting of players under 12 years old, and Group A, an open group for players of all ages.

Several prominent players have already confirmed their participation in the event. In the open group, notable participants include Sourabh Mhamane (rated 1755), Viresh Sharnarthi (rated 1749), Siddhant Tamhankar (rated 1747), Nirgun Keval (rated 1687), and Aaryan Singla (rated 1666). In the under 12 group, players such as Ishan Arjun PY (rated 1248), Vihan Deshmukh (rated 1225), Ariav Kamat (rated 1130), and Vedant Kale (rated 1072) have registered for the tournament.

The tournament boasts a total cash prize of Rs. 20,000/-. The open group winner will receive a cash prize of Rs. 12,500/- along with a trophy, while the under 12 group winner will be awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 7,500/-.

The Chief Arbiter for the tournament will be Nitin Shenvi, ensuring fair play and adherence to the rules and regulations of the game.
