In an exciting move for Indian football fans, Jamshedpur FC has secured the services of Croatian striker Petar Sliskovic on a one-year deal. Known for his aerial prowess, unique goal-scoring ability, technical skills, and strength, Sliskovic brings a wealth of experience to the team. Having played at multiple top clubs in the past, including FSV Mainz in Germany under current Bayern Munich boss Thomas Tuchel between 2010 and 2015, Sliskovic has proven his worth in various footballing arenas.
After successful stints with clubs in Germany and Switzerland, Sliskovic made a permanent move to Chennaiyin FC in 2022, where he impressed with his goal-scoring abilities for the Marina Machans.
Expressing his excitement about joining Jamshedpur FC, Sliskovic stated in an official statement, “It’s a great feeling to join Jamshedpur FC. This is a club that I know well because of my time in India already, and having played against them last season, I know what a good team this is. Apart from his club-level achievements, Sliskovic has also represented the Croatian U21 side in his early career. Standing tall at 6 feet 4 inches, he has featured in six matches for his country at the youth level, alongside notable names like Ivan Perisic, Dejan Lovren, Mateo Kovacic, and Ivan Rakitic.
Jamshedpur FC Head Coach, Scott Cooper, expressed his confidence in Sliskovic’s abilities, saying, “Petar has already got league experience, and that’s always very encouraging because it can be very difficult for strikers to settle into a new league. He has done very well last season and got a good tally of goals to his name. He is an accomplished striker with experience from Croatia and Germany, and I think he will fit into our model of play really well. If he is given chances, he will score goals.”
The club has also confirmed that Sliskovic will wear the number nine shirt in the upcoming campaign.
