India’s ICC World Cup 2023 Jersey: Adidas Stuns with Tri-Colour Transformation

As anticipation for the ICC World Cup 2023 intensifies in India and across the globe, the International Cricket Council (ICC) added a dash of excitement by unveiling the tournament’s official anthem, ‘Dil Jashn Bole.’ However, the anthem garnered mixed reactions on social media. Shortly after this launch, Adidas, India’s kit partners, sprung their own surprise for the Indian cricket team.

Adidas released a 2-minute 21-second anthem titled “Impossible Nahi Ye Sapna, 3 Ka Dream Hai Apna,” capturing India’s pursuit of securing their third ODI World Cup title.

India boasts a rich history in ICC events, having clinched the ODI World Cup twice – first under Kapil Dev’s leadership in 1983 and then, after a long wait, led by MS Dhoni in 2011. India also secured a World Cup victory in 2007, albeit in the T20 format.

The Adidas anthem prominently features India’s cricketing luminaries, including Captain Rohit Sharma, superstar Virat Kohli, Vice-Captain Hardik Pandya, rising star Shubman Gill, pacers Mohammed Siraj and Shardul Thakur, versatile all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, and spinner Kuldeep Yadav.

Sharing the anthem, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted: “1983 – the spark. 2011 – the glory. 2023 – the dream. Impossible nahi yeh sapna, #3kaDream hai apna.”

In addition to the anthem, the video provides a sneak peek at India’s World Cup jersey, showcasing a significant alteration compared to the recently-concluded Asia Cup. The jersey now features India’s tri-colour stripes, replacing the three white stripes over the shoulder.

The tri-colour stripes have been met with widespread acclaim on social media, with many considering Adidas’s decision a masterstroke. It’s noteworthy that the ICC’s regulations prohibit any logo other than the team’s name in the center of the jersey, meaning there won’t be a Dream 11 logo during the World Cup.

As India gears up for the ODI World Cup, it enters the tournament as one of the favorites. Despite not clinching an ICC title since the Champions Trophy in 2013, India’s stellar performance in the Asia Cup 2023 and its current form have boosted the team’s confidence.

India is set to commence its ODI World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai. The tournament opener will witness England and New Zealand face off in Ahmedabad, marking a repeat of the last edition’s final clash.
