Pune, August 14, 2023: Outstanding Performance by Guha Amidst Intense Competition
The chess world witnessed a remarkable feat as Grand Master Mitrabha Guha emerged as the champion at the inaugural 1st JK’s ECA One Day FIDE Rating Rapid Chess Tournament. The event, orchestrated by Excellence Chess Academy and supported by Kings Indian Chess Club, NBM, and Chesslovers group, was held at the picturesque Kodre Farm on Sinhgad Road.
In a gripping ninth round, GM Vishnu Prasanna V managed to overcome GM Mitrabha Guha, adding to the fervor of the tournament. Mitrabha Guha clinched the title by finishing first on tiebreak with an impressive score of 8 points and a bucchlz cut of 53.
The victorious Grand Master was awarded Rs. 50,000/- along with a trophy, a well-deserved recognition of his outstanding performance. The runner-up, not to be overlooked, received Rs. 35,000/- and a trophy in acknowledgment of their skillful play.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by esteemed guests including Mr. Niranjan Godbole, Honorary Secretary of the Maharashtra Chess Association (MCA); Mr. Prakash Kunte, Vice President of the Pune District Chess Circle (PDCC); Juily Kulkarni, Tournament Director; Rajendra Shidore, Chief Arbiter; Sumukh Gayakwad, Secretary of the Solapur District Chess Association; Pravin Thipse, Secretary of the Maharashtra Arbiter Commission; and Deputy Chief Deepti Shidore.
