Googly & CPL Collaborate to Launch ECPL with $25,000 Prize Pool

Leading sports and gaming entities, Googly and the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL), have joined hands to unveil the exciting ‘ECPL’ initiative. The annual T20 cricket extravaganza of the CPL garners a massive viewership reach of over 720 million, making it one of the world’s most followed sporting leagues. Starting from August 16th, cricket enthusiasts can now represent their cherished CPL teams and partake in the ECPL tournament on Googly, a dynamic esports and gaming platform based in India.

Boasting a substantial prize pool of $25,000, the ECPL event will span seven weeks and encompass three distinct stages. Each of the CPL teams – Barbados Royals, Guyana Amazon Warriors, Jamaica Tallawahs, St Kitts & Nevis Patriots, Saint Lucia Kings, and Trinbago Knight Riders – will host single-elimination bracket Open Qualifiers on the Googly tournament platform. This initial phase aims to identify the best mobile esports representative for each team.

The top six performers from the qualifiers will advance to the Double Round Robin tournament, scheduled for a duration of five weeks. During this segment, these players will compete for their respective CPL teams in weekly matches that will be broadcast live on an esports show. Accumulating leaderboard points throughout this phase will be crucial.

At the culmination of the Round Robin, the top four players will progress to the highly anticipated ECPL Playoffs, set for September 20th. This climax event will be streamed live and will determine the world’s premier WCC3 (World Cricket Championship 3) player, crowning them as the official ECPL champion.

Registration for the Open Qualifiers of each CPL team is now open and can be accessed through this link: https://cpl.googly.gg/?utm_source=prelease&utm_campaign=CPL

Among the supporting partners for the inaugural ECPL on Googly, Next Wave stands out as the publishers of WCC3, the official game associated with ECPL. With an impressive global download count of 80 million, WCC3 holds a special place in the gaming landscape.

CPL’s CEO, Pete Russell, expressed the league’s commitment to innovation, viewing ECPL as a step forward in integrating fans into the vibrant atmosphere of the cricketing extravaganza. Matt Lodge, CEO of Googly, shared his team’s excitement to collaborate with CPL, acknowledging the league’s significant following in cricket and gaming enthusiasts across India. This partnership between two influential entities promises an enthralling tournament that seamlessly merges the worlds of sports and esports.
