Pune: The Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Hinjawadi is a world-standard IT hub. However, it has been facing many infrastructural issues such as traffic congestion, solid waste management, etc. New companies are not setting up their base here. In this backdrop, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar called a meeting of senior officers in Mantralaya in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Pawar instructed the officials to take immediate steps so that new firms would be set up. He also directed them to complete infrastructural facilities such as road-widening, flyovers, etc.
The Deputy Chief Minister held the meeting to discuss demands raised by the Hinjawadi Industries Association (HIA). He said, “The Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has developed the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park in three phases within the limits of Hinjawadi, Maan and Marunji villages. The State Government has given priority to provide a conducive atmosphere to the companies here. Therefore, all government agencies should solve the problems faced by the companies immediately and in coordination with each other. The number of vehicles visiting the area is high. However, the roads in the area are narrow and traffic snarls are taking place frequently. Steps should be taken to address this issue.
The MIDC is building a unit of 10-tonne capacity to process solid waste within its jurisdiction. However, garbage from the villages in the vicinity needs to be processed too. Therefore, the Zilla Parishad CEO should start taking action to set up a garbage processing project of 100-tonne capacity. A police chowky should be set up within the limits of the MIDC. These instructions were issued by DyCM Pawar.

*Widen the roads in Hinjawadi
*All the roads should have six lanes
*Build flyovers where it is needed
*Fill potholes on roads
*Take up repairs of medians and footpaths immediately
*Construct rainwater drains
