NCP to contest 90 Maha Assembly seats: Ajit Pawar

Ajit Pawar

Mumbai : Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Wednesday announced that his party will contest 90 assembly seats in forthcoming assembly elections and will also contest some Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Addressing party workers at MET here for first time after being sworn in as DyCM following split in NCP, he predicted that if the BJP, Shiv Sena and NCP contest upcoming elections together, then NCP will not only get the current 54 seats in the assembly, but they will also capture more seats of the Congress party.

However, Pawar’s claim has raised a question mark over how many seats will be left for the Shinde group and other constituents if BJP claims maximum share and NCP gets 90 seats in upcoming assembly elections.

Therefore, although his speech was inspiring for the NCP workers, it is likely to be a future alarm bell for the Shinde group, opined political observers.
