Is Ajit Pawar’s Influence Limited? Sanjay Raut on Sharad Pawar’s Union Minister Prospects

Mumbai, Aug 16 (UNI) Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Wednesday said Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is not so influential that he can offer NCP supremo Sharad Pawar a berth in the Union Cabinet.

Raut was reacting to media reports quoting senior Congress leader and former state Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan that Ajit Pawar offered the senior Pawar a berth in Union Cabinet;

Talking to the media, Raut said Sharad Pawar has groomed Ajit and his stature is high in the political world.

“Ajit Pawar is not that big a leader that he can make an offer to Sharad Pawar. Pawar Sahab made Ajit Pawar, Ajit Pawar didn’t make Sharad Pawar. His (Sharad Pawar) stature is high,” said Raut.

It may be recalled that Prithviraj Chavan earlier claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had offered the Union Agriculture Ministry to Sharad Pawar.

Chavan explained that a meeting took place between the NCP supremo and his nephew Ajit Pawar at a bungalow owned by businessman Atul Choradia in Pune. The meeting reportedly revolved around the BJP’s proposition. Interestingly, NCP faction leader Jayant Patil was also present at the meeting, suggesting the gravity of the discussions, according to Chavan.
