Wheels of Change: Full Government Subsidy Paves the Way for E-Rickshaw Entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh

In a significant stride towards fostering women empowerment, the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has introduced Mission Shakti Abhiyan, an ambitious initiative that will provide e-rickshaws to 250 women in every district of the state. This groundbreaking move is designed to connect women with self-employment opportunities and catalyze their economic empowerment, with the added incentive of full government subsidy.

Under the Chief Minister Youth Self-Employment Scheme, women participating in the Mission Shakti Abhiyan will undergo comprehensive training and receive subsidized e-rickshaws, creating a pathway to self-employment. The 60-day training course, tailored for 250 working entrepreneur women in each district, forms a crucial component of the program.

The overarching goal is to train and empower approximately 20,000 women across the state, marking a significant investment in the socio-economic fabric of Uttar Pradesh. Recognizing the importance of mobility in this endeavor, the government will actively assist trained women in obtaining driving licenses for e-rickshaws by collaborating with the Regional Transport Office (RTO).

Further fortifying the initiative, low-interest loans will be extended to the trained women through the Mukhyamantri Swarozgar Yojana, a scheme managed by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises and Export Promotion Department of Uttar Pradesh. This multi-faceted approach positions Uttar Pradesh as a trailblazer, being the first state in the country to champion women empowerment on such a large scale, focusing on making women strong, safe, and self-reliant in every district.
