Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has urged prestigious institutions such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) to embrace multi-disciplinary approaches and broaden their educational horizons. This directive aligns with the National Education Policy of 2020, emphasizing the importance of diverse and comprehensive education.

During the inauguration of the Odisha Research Centre, Minister Pradhan reiterated the need for IITs and IIMs to align themselves with the evolving educational landscape envisioned in the National Education Policy. The newly inaugurated research center, graced by Raghubar Das and Biswa Bhusan Harichandan, is poised to focus on research across a spectrum of disciplines, including art, culture, archaeology, sociology, politics, agriculture, commerce, technology, and healthcare.

Minister Pradhan underscored the potential applications of technology in various sectors and emphasized the role of the research center in advancing Odisha’s progress, particularly during significant upcoming milestones. The minister believes that fostering a multi-disciplinary approach is key to addressing the diverse needs of society and fostering innovation.

In collaboration with various organizations, the research center aims to develop unique epistemological structures to explore different facets of Odisha’s history, culture, economy, and society. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to creating a more holistic educational landscape that goes beyond traditional silos, promoting cross-disciplinary collaboration and research.
