Travel Nightmare: Bengaluru Man Books OYO Hotel, Discovers Renovation Chaos, and Faces Refund Issues

Amit Chansikar, a digital marketer, recently had a travel ordeal when he booked an OYO room through Make My Trip in Bengaluru, only to discover upon arrival that the hotel was undergoing renovations, with no staff present to address his concerns. The frustration escalated when he realized that the refund he received was incomplete, as booking charges had been deducted.

Expressing his dismay on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Chansikar tweeted, “Scam alert in Bengaluru. Just came to find out that the hotel I had booked was under renovation. There was not a living soul here. This is tantamount to cheating! After wasting two hours here they cut money from my refund! Shame on you.”

The tweet gained traction, prompting responses from both OYO and Make My Trip.

OYO issued an apology, stating, “Hi, we apologize for the inconvenience caused. We believe our team has already connected with you with a resolution and has already done the needful. Also have requested you to get in touch with MMT (Make My Trip) for further assistance.”

Meanwhile, Make My Trip responded, “Hi Amit, we are truly apologetic for the experience you had with us. Our endeavor has always been to provide the best experience to our customers. As per our telephone conversation, the refund is processed in the same mode of payment. Kindly check the refund details.”

Chansikar provided an update, stating, “I have received a refund of Rs. 3141 which is more than the booking amount of Rs. 3060.”
