In a bizarre turn of events, two passengers aboard the Sampark Kranti Superfast Express found themselves in legal trouble after attempting to light a bonfire inside a moving train. The duo, identified as Chandana and Devendra, were arrested on Thursday night for using cow dung cakes to set up the makeshift fire inside a general train compartment.
During their journey from Assam to Delhi, Chandana and Devendra, traveling in a general compartment, reportedly felt the chill and decided to take an unconventional step to combat the cold by lighting a bonfire within the train.
Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials onboard the train noticed smoke emanating from the compartment, leading to the discovery of this unusual attempt to stay warm during the journey. Upon questioning passengers in the compartment, it was revealed that the duo had ignited the fire using cow dung cakes.
The RPF took immediate action, contacting the nearest base at Aligarh. The train made an unscheduled stop, and the duo was deboarded and subsequently apprehended. Chandana and Devendra explained to the officials that their intention was solely to ward off the cold.
Both individuals have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Railway Act. They have been sent to jail, facing legal consequences for their unconventional choice to create warmth during the train journey.
It’s worth noting that over a dozen other passengers were initially detained in connection with the incident, but they were later released after thorough investigation.
