In response to heightened demand during the festive season, Indian Railways has introduced a special Vande Bharat Express train service operating between Howrah and New Jalpaiguri (NJP) railway stations in West Bengal. This dedicated service, managed by Indian Railways, addresses the surge in passenger demand and will be in operation until November 29, 2023.
The national transportation system has strategically deployed three Vande Bharat Express Special trains during the festive season, catering to different routes such as New Delhi-Patna Junction-New Delhi, Chennai Egmore-Tirunelveli-Chennai Egmore, and Howrah-New Jalpaiguri-Howrah. The Eastern Railway zone has successfully added 6768 extra seats, ensuring smoother travel experiences for passengers during the festive rush.
With train number 02301/02302, the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri-Howrah Vande Bharat Express Special covers a distance of 561 kilometers in just seven and a half hours. This makes it the fastest train on its route, outpacing the Shatabdi Express and Saraighat Express, which take 8.5 and 9 hours, respectively, for the same journey. The train, featuring 16 coaches, including Executive Class and Chair Car coaches, operates exclusively on Wednesdays and makes stoppages at Bolpur Shantiniketan, Malda Town, and Barsoi Junction.
This special service holds significant importance as it enhances the travel experience for passengers exploring the picturesque hill city of Darjeeling and its surroundings during the festive season. With modern amenities and growing popularity, the Howrah-New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express Special promises a delightful journey for passengers traveling between these two vibrant stations.
