Sourav Ganguly Faces Security Concerns: Phone Worth 1.6 Lakh, Linked to Bank Accounts, Stolen

In a shocking turn of events, former India captain and current President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly, finds himself in a security nightmare as his phone, valued at 1.6 lakh, goes missing from his residence. The stolen phone holds access to multiple accounts, including the veteran cricketer’s personal and bank details, raising concerns about potential misuse.

Ganguly promptly filed a complaint with the Thakurpukur police station after discovering the theft. The incident reportedly occurred during ongoing painting work at his residence. Authorities are set to question the workers involved in the painting project to gather more information.

Expressing his worries, Ganguly stated, “I believe my phone was stolen from home. I saw the phone for the last time around 11:30 am on January 19th. Deeply concerned about losing my phone, as it has multiple contact numbers and access to personal information and accounts. I am requesting to trace the phone or take appropriate action.”

As the investigation unfolds, the cricketing icon hopes for swift police action to recover the stolen device and prevent any potential misuse of the sensitive information stored on it.

It’s A Loss Making Tournament

In a separate development, attention shifts to the U19 World Cup, where India is gearing up to face Australia in the final on Sunday, hosted in South Africa. Curiously, India has never hosted the U19 World Cup in its 15 editions so far. When questioned about this, Ganguly labeled the tournament as a “loss-making” venture but expressed optimism about hosting it in India in the future.

“There is no particular reason for it. The other World Cups are played in India. What’s wrong if this one is played in places where the senior World Cups don’t take place that often? It’s one way of taking the game to other countries,” remarked Ganguly.

Acknowledging the financial challenges associated with non-profit tournaments, Ganguly clarified, “Most World Cups not featuring the senior men’s teams are non-profit. But that’s not the reason the U-19 World Cup hasn’t been played in India. And I think it’s going to be held in India.”
