Riding the Rails of Progress: PM Modi Launches Amrit Bharat Express for Efficient Long-Distance Travel

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate two revolutionary ‘Amrit Bharat Express’ trains on December 30, marking a significant milestone in India’s railway modernization. The Union Railway Minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inspected the cutting-edge push-pull rake at New Delhi Railway Station, emphasizing the integration of advanced technology to enhance railway services.

The inaugural journey of the first Amrit Bharat Express will embark from Delhi to Darbhanga (Bihar) via Ayodhya, while the second train will traverse from Malda to Bengaluru. Simultaneously, in Ayodhya, PM Modi is expected to launch six Vande Bharat Express trains, further amplifying the government’s commitment to modernize the country’s rail network.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the technological prowess of the push-pull rake, showcasing improved acceleration. The utilization of push-pull technology in the Amrit Bharat Express aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision for innovation in the railway sector, building on the success of the Vande Bharat Express.

The trains, manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai, boast an aerodynamically designed exterior in vibrant orange and grey hues. With a speed capability of up to 130 kilometers per hour, the Amrit Bharat Express accommodates over 1,800 passengers in its 22-coach configuration.

The push-pull technology, featuring a WAP5 locomotive with 6,000 HP at each end of the train, contributes to faster acceleration, ultimately reducing travel time. The composition of the train includes 8 general second-class coaches for unreserved passengers, 12 second-class 3-tier sleeper coaches, and two guard compartments.

This initiative is a significant stride towards achieving the government’s ambitious target of 4,500 Vande Bharat trains by 2047, marking a new era in India’s railway infrastructure.
