Republic Day Rehearsal Traffic Alert: 12 Restrictions and No-Entry Zones Declared in Delhi

As Delhi braces itself for the upcoming Republic Day celebrations, a full dress rehearsal is set to take place on Tuesday, January 23rd, at 10:30 AM. This rehearsal, a precursor to the grand parade, will commence from Vijay Chowk and weave its way through various parts of Delhi, impacting traffic significantly.

Parade Route: A Grand Spectacle

The parade, set to unfold from Vijay Chowk, will traverse Kartavya Path, C-Hexagon, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Statue roundabout, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and culminate at the historic Red Fort. This spectacle of grandeur is a foretaste of the main Republic Day parade and will inevitably lead to traffic disruptions.

Traffic Restrictions: Plan Your Travel Wisely

Delhi Traffic Police are urging residents to plan their travel judiciously, considering the parade route. Kartavya Path, spanning from Vijay Chowk to India Gate, will be off-limits for traffic from Monday evening at 6 PM until the end of the rehearsal on Tuesday. Furthermore, from Monday night at 11 PM until the conclusion of the parade, entry into Delhi will be restricted for heavy transport vehicles and light goods vehicles.

Compliance and Route Adjustments

Motorists are advised to comply with the traffic advisory and adhere to the specified rules. During the rehearsal, these vehicles will only be permitted to travel on the Ring Road between ISBT Sarai Kale Khan and ISBT Kashmiri Gate from 7:30 AM to 1:30 PM on Tuesday. It is crucial for commuters to stay informed and follow directions provided by traffic personnel at various intersections.

Airspace Restrictions: A Unique Ban

Adding an unconventional twist, Delhi will witness a ban on various aerial platforms from the date of the rehearsal until February 15th. This ban encompasses paragliders, paramotors, hang gliders, unmanned aerial vehicles, microlight aircraft, and more. Such measures are enacted to ensure the security and smooth execution of Republic Day events.

In Shorts: A Call for Caution and Cooperation

As the Republic Day parade rehearsal takes center stage, Delhiites are urged to exercise caution, plan their routes meticulously, and cooperate with the designated traffic regulations. The restrictions are temporary but crucial for the seamless execution of this national celebration.
